London Luxury Bathrooms
Expert Bathroom Design, Start to Finish
A luxury bathroom is decided months before a single tile is laid. That is the plain truth behind every stunning bathroom we have designed and installed in London: the result depends on the planning, not on how much is spent at the till. North Arch Bathrooms designs, supplies and installs your bathroom under one roof, covering design to installation from your first conversation with us to the day your new bathroom is finished and swept clean. If you are only just planning a bathroom, this guide sets out how proper design work turns a rough idea into a bathroom transformation you will actually enjoy living with.
We are bathroom experts who specialise in one thing: complete bathroom renovation, managed by our own experienced team from the first sketch to the final inspection. We do not take on partial jobs. Done properly, a renovation touches plumbing, electrics, tiling and joinery all at once, and coordinating that yourself is exactly the kind of stress most of our clients come to us to avoid. We have seen it fail.
Why the first conversation matters most
Every renovation should start with listening, not selling. Our process begins with a consultation, where we discuss your existing bathroom, ask what is and is not working, and get a feel for how you actually use the space day to day. This is your design consultation, and it is where the initial design ideas come from: practical options for storage and lighting, and how the new room should feel rather than just how it should look.
From there, our bathroom designers take those notes away and turn them into a full presentation, usually around seven to ten days later. You will see a mood board, product choices and a 3D visual of your bathroom. We tailor every design to what you told us during the home visit, not to a generic template. Nothing about this stage is rushed. A £250 design fee applies at this point, though it is refunded in full once you place an order for products, so the cost of proper design work never becomes a barrier to getting it right.
Visit our Muswell Hill showroom to see it for real
Photographs only tell you so much about a finish or the feel of a shower valve. That is why we built our showroom in Muswell Hill around genuinely useful ideas rather than a wall of catalogues. Our designers in London see the same hesitation every week: people who like a picture online but cannot picture the room itself. Walk through room sets, handle the brassware, and see how microcement actually looks under real light rather than a studio flash. Our showroom uses a 4D-style walkthrough platform so you can picture your own bathroom in the space before you commit to anything.
If a visit is not practical straight away, ask for our bathroom inspiration brochure. It will not replace time in one of our London showrooms, but it is a reasonable place to start narrowing down a range of styles before your first consultation.
Bespoke bathroom design, from cloakroom to full renovation
Not every project is a five-piece family bathroom. We have designed everything from a small bathroom or cloakroom through to full en-suite renovations, and our approach is the same regardless of scale: understand the room, understand the client, then design around both. A wet room in a tight loft conversion needs completely different thinking to a dream bathroom built into a period house extension, and treating them identically is where a lot of off-the-shelf design goes wrong.
This bespoke design approach is also why we take on bathrooms across London, from Muswell Hill out to Blackheath. The brief changes with the property every time: a Victorian terrace holds different plumbing constraints to a new-build flat, and good bespoke bathrooms account for that from day one rather than fighting it during installation.
Layout, tile and lighting: the details that bespeak quality
A bathroom lives or dies on how the room is arranged. Get the position of the shower tray, the basin and the door swing wrong, and no amount of expensive tile will fix how cramped or awkward the room feels day to day. We spend real time on this early, because moving a soil pipe after installation has begun is far more disruptive than moving it on paper. Small mistakes get expensive fast.
Tile choice matters just as much, though for different reasons. We work through an extensive range of European tile, from large-format porcelain with clean lines to smaller, more textured options built for an exquisite bathroom finish that photographs badly but feels wonderful underfoot. Lighting is often an afterthought, which is a mistake: bathroom lighting has to satisfy strict electrical safety zones as well as look right, and NICEIC's guidance on bathroom electrics sets out clearly why splash-proof fittings near a bath or shower are not optional. We design lighting in layers, task, ambient and mirror, so a compact room feels calm rather than clinical, and an en suite feels just as considered as a modern and functional family bathroom.
How long does a luxury bathroom renovation actually take?
This is the question we get asked most, usually at the consultation itself. The honest answer: design typically takes seven to fourteen days once measurements are taken, and installation itself runs to around four weeks for a full bathroom renovation, longer for anything involving structural work or a large wet area. Fitting a bathroom well is not a race. Rushed jobs show later. Our experienced installers work to the same sequence on every job, waterproofing before tiling, so every bathroom is finished to a high standard rather than just to a deadline. The same logic sits behind independent guidance on bathroom waterproofing and tanking standards, which is worth a read if you want to understand why it matters as much as it does.
Every installer we use has years of hands-on experience, because craftsmanship shows up in the details nobody photographs: grout lines, silicone joints, the fall of a floor. We stock genuine bathroom products from manufacturers we have worked with for years, not whatever happens to be cheapest that quarter, because long-lasting fittings cost less over a decade than replacing poor ones twice.
This is where our design and installation service earns its keep. Once your order is placed, our in-house team coordinates every trade on site, plumbers, electricians, tilers and joiners, so you are not the one chasing four different companies to turn up on the same day. Jakub, our Installation Manager, oversees every job personally, and you get a clear schedule rather than vague promises about when things will happen.
We are not the biggest installation company in London and have no interest in becoming one. We would rather stay hands-on. Being looked after by the same people from start to finish, rather than passed between departments, is worth more to most of our clients than scale. It is a straightforward, seamless way to run a renovation, and it is the entire reason our aftercare visits and twelve-month labour warranty exist: so a finished bathroom stays finished, and so we stand behind our workmanship long after the last invoice is paid.
Installation, fully managed from start to finish
Why clients tell us they are happy with their new bathroom
A surprising number of our clients book a holiday to coincide with their installation, then come back to a finished bathroom rather than a building site they have had to live around. It is a small thing, but it tells you what that kind of care is actually for. Others still pop into the showroom with their dogs, months after their project ended, just to say hello, which says more about the relationship than any review ever could. That is the real proof.
The phrase we hear most after handover is a simple one: happy with my new bathroom, and every job on our bathroom projects is checked against that standard before we consider it finished. According to Bathroom Manufacturers Association research, just over half of UK homeowners now use a professional for a full bathroom refurbishment, and once you have lived through one badly managed project, it is easy to see why the other half eventually change their minds too.
